Half of the women who are in their menopausal or pre-menopausal stage have experienced vaginal dryness. Vaginal dryness for menopausal and pre-menopausal women is even more likely when they undergo HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy). Although HRT could address some problems of women in this stage of their life, the chances of vaginal dryness increase.
But it just doesn’t come from the physical aspect in women. Stress is a major factor in menopausal women because it greatly influences their body especially on vaginal dryness. This psychological condition could trigger hormones which would eventually prevent other hormones, particularly hormones related for sex, from being produced.
When the female experiences vaginal dryness, she may also experiences vaginal thinning. The wall of the female’s vagina dries up during this condition. Sex during this stage is very difficult because of the pain. Since the body has reduced production of estrogen, the body won’t feel arousal easily which prevents lubrication of the vagina.
However, vaginal dryness could be addressed even without the use of medicine. There are simple diet schemes and supplements that could help the women overcome vaginal dryness fast.
Causes of Vaginal Dryness

Lower estrogen level – during the pre-menopausal and menopausal stage, women will experience drastic decrease of their estrogen level. Since the women’s body no longer has the capability to reproduce, the level of hormones (estrogen) which relates to sex and reproduction is reduced.
Medical conditions – there are certain medical conditions that could trigger vaginal dryness. If ever women had a procedure for any reason, she should check with her doctor if she experiences continuous and usually painful vaginal dryness. Sjögren disease is a well known cause for vaginal dryness. Women who also had a procedure related to their reproductive system could also experience vaginal dryness.
Emotional problems – as we have indicated, stress could easily trigger vaginal dryness. During stress, the female body produces more cortisol, the hormone for stress and production of testosterone, one of the hormones responsible for sexual appetite and pleasure in women is reduced. The adrenal glands are the source of these hormones and when the female is stressed, production of cortisol increases, reducing the production of testosterone in the process.
